Fee increase. From Monday, 31st July, 2023.

By August 30, 2023November 15th, 2023No Comments

From Monday, 31st July, 2023, fees at Morningside General Practice Clinic and Belmont General Practice Clinic will change, due to a substantial increase in clinic operating costs.

For the benefit of patients, Morningside General Practice Clinic and Belmont General Practice Clinic have absorbed this cost to date, however this is no longer sustainable. This is the case for many general practice clinics across Australia in 2023. Morningside General Practice Clinic and Belmont General Practice Clinic are not Bulk Billing Clinics, however, to assist the most vulnerable in our community, the GP may use discretion to provide services at a discounted rate.

The new Practice Fees Schedule is available here

Why are our fees rising?

1. Inflation
2. Expansion of payroll tax

We have 3 choices:

1. Cut costs*
2. Increase fees
3. Close

*we have done our best to cut costs without cutting corners

The increasing Medicare ‘gap’ you pay for consultations is due to a lack of funding for primary health care in Australia.  The Medicare rebate for GP consultations is now less than 50% of the fee recommended by Australian national medical associations.

What can you do?
